I Went to Your Grave Today {A Poem}

Cemetery

I went to your grave today-
first time.
I wipe the snow
from the cold metal marker
bearing your name.
Tears flow
A hard day
Regret over words
I thought I had
more time to say.
The ground gives no answer
Story-filled stones stare in silence
So looking up to the Son I gaze.
You are not under the mound of dirt
with dead flowers and crushed bows.
You are in my heart.
Miss you, my friend.
I went to your grave today-
last time.
For you are not there
You are Home.
